Discussion paper focusing on child rights and intergenerational justice

Agulhas team was invited to contribute to the discussion paper focusing on child rights. This work pulls together ideas to put the moral principles of intergenerational justice into practice in the context of climate change, using economic and social policy, cultural values, and legislative frameworks. It aims at starting a discussion.

What seems clear is that although there are many precedents and ideas, the statutory frameworks are currently weak. So whilst the ethical imperative behind an intergenerational approach to climate change may be compelling, adequate mechanisms are not yet deployed.
