Catherine is a co-founder and Director, building Agulhas over the last 17 years into a thriving research and consulting practice, and providing incisive advice and support to clients from around the world.

She works with a hand picked, largely female team of staff from countries including Australia, Bosnia, the Czech Republic, France, Guyana, Hong Kong, Ireland, Morocco, South Africa, and Zimbabwe.

As an economist, evaluator and climate expert, Catherine uses her experience and skills to set the strategic direction of the company and lead the Climate Hub.

Catherine has a background in economic policy and particular expertise in taking stock and synthesizing a body of knowledge in order to provide context, close a knowledge gap and influence policy.

Catherine also works as a collaborator and convener to drive change and build momentum for action on climate change.  She was one of the four people to develop and deliver the Climate Finance Advance programme; an initiative to drive private sector momentum at Findhorn in 2014 in advance of COP21, run every year since then. She delivered this together with the ‘first Tuesday’ monthly meetings in the City of London, which provide a ginger group to accelerate the shift required in scaling finance for action on climate. In 2015 she was one of the co-Founders of the All Party Parliamentary Group on the Limits to Growth (L2G).

Catherine has several years of Board and Advisory Board experience in both the commercial and NFP sectors. She has both Chaired and been a Board member of a UK limited company and an NFP, along with a number of advisory board positions for NFP’s. She has particular experience in the aerospace, FMCG and food sectors.

Her international experience over the last 30 years covers 45 countries in East and Central Africa, South Asia and Latin America & the Caribbean.

Key work skills

Catherine’s expertise includes understanding climate risk and building routes to climate resilience, climate policy, just transition, narrative development, embedding sustainability in education – whether for executive MBA programmes or in schools – using evaluation to inform strategy, and applying knowledge.

Other interests

Catherine is London Scottish, mother of two lovely teenagers, a keen chorister, aspiring yogi and a slave to her cat. She would like to spend more time at the ceilidh.
