How to note on Electoral Assistance

This paper provides guidance for UK country posts on when and how to support elections internationally. It is issued jointly by FCO and DFID, and covers both diplomatic engagement and development assistance. It sets out the main processes involved in planning and delivering electoral assistance, including the critical area of risk management. It also introduces some of the issues and policy choices that may arise around electoral assistance, and provides guidance on where to find more information on technical matters.
