Tony has worked around the world and across many cultures, developing organisations and individuals to increase their effectiveness. Qualified and working initially as a teacher in Africa, Tony then pursued a distinguished management career first in the police service and for the last thirty-two years in international relief and development.  As a Regional Director for six African country programmes, he led an expansive strategic development process, managing a large cross-cultural team, ultimately responsible for 360 staff. He has also led programmes as Country Director in Tanzania and Indonesia.

Working as a consultant for many years, he now advises, trains and coaches humanitarian workers in operational and organisational competence, supporting teams in Sri Lanka, Iraq,
Turkey, Lebanon, Nigeria, Pakistan, India, Vietnam, Kenya, Jordan, Zimbabwe, Jamaica, Sierra Leone, Bangladesh, among others.

Tony pioneered specialist technical training in post-crisis cash interventions and accompanying market assessment and minimum economic recovery standards. He is highly evaluated by participants and clients alike for his experiential and engaging training programmes, as well as his ability to bring a group together in an enjoyable, safe and inclusive environment.

He supported the conversion of the internationally recognised 5-day face-to-face Cash Intervention Management course into a 12-week remote blended learning experience, with 6 facilitated online workshops. His subsequent training of the first cohort of 12 trainers to deliver this course has led to it being received with high acclaim throughout the world.

Tony has worked with participants from UN, NGO and government organisations throughout the world on courses that include a strong element of effective communication with partners and beneficiaries. In his spare time, he trained and worked during the Covid period as a vaccinator and still offers his services during the UK winter and autumn Covid and ‘flu vaccination
campaigns.
