Maya Forté

Intern

As a Research Analyst Intern, Maya supports research, analysis, business development and project management across Agulhas’ Conflict, Crises and Fragility, and Climate work. Her role involves gathering and analysing documents and data, supporting knowledge management systems, and assisting with project logistics, scheduling and coordination.

Maya holds an MSc in International Development and Humanitarian Emergencies from the London School of Economics and a BA in Law, Societies and Justice with Communications from the University of Washington. She has research experience in disability-inclusive development, migration management and humanitarian policy, with a growing focus on digital justice, ICT4D and AI in development.

Prior to joining Agulhas, Maya worked on projects with UNESCO, UNICEF and the UNCRPD, contributing to research on disability rights, education and social protection. She has also led research for the Andalus Committee on ethical AI in healthcare and migration management/border security in the digital age, combining her commitment to inclusion with an interest in how technology shapes access to rights and services.

 


Key work skills

Maya’s skills include qualitative research, key informant interviews, literature reviews, thematic coding, report writing, and strategic communications/marketing within the commercial and nonprofit sectors.

Other interests

Outside of work, Maya enjoys exploring London’s green spaces, cycling, and following her long-term love of ballet to professional shows and open classes across the city. She loves combining both her loves of traveling and outdoor exploration, with the bucket-list goals of completing both the Camino de Santiago and the Inca Trail within the next few years.
