Olivia McConnell

Technical Manager

As a Manager, Olivia works across a range of climate and humanitarian topics, including gender equality and women’s economic empowerment in Africa, equitable taxation, and aid effectiveness. Olivia is also the Programme Coordinator across reviews produced for the Independent commission for Aid Impact (ICAI), providing agile project management and operational support to teams and external consultants.

Prior to her role at Agulhas, Olivia was studying at the London School of Economics where she earned a Masters degree in Development Studies with a concentration in Applied Development Economics. Her MSc dissertation sought to quantitatively assess the impact of the arrival of fast internet on human trafficking rates in Sub-Saharan Africa. Olivia holds a Bachelor of Science in International Affairs and Political Science, as well as a Bachelor of Science in Economics and French from Florida State University.

 


Key work skills

Olivia has experience working with a range of development partners, including foundations, nonprofits and think tanks. With a background in economics, Olivia specialises in data analysis and interpretation and is skilled in a variety of quantitative and qualitative research methodologies. She has conducted statistical analysis of large OECD-DAC datasets, gender indices and international development spend data. Her areas of interest include economic and social development, as well as gender data.

Other interests

Outside of work, Olivia enjoys teaching fitness classes at studios across London, including a barbell class and a rebounding (mini trampoline) class. She also enjoys taking her mini schnauzer, Lola, on long walks through the park.
