Agulhas’ Senior Fellow wins the Outstanding Teaching Award at University of Birmingham

Agulhas’ Fellow Willem van Eekelen won the 2017 Outstanding Teaching Award of the University of Birmingham’s College of Social Sciences, which includes about 500 teaching staff. Willem is a Senior Fellow at Agulhas and a Teaching Fellow at the International Development Department of the University of Birmingham. He teaches modules on Poverty and Inequality, Rural Poverty and Development and the role of NGOs in a Changing International Context.

One student said of Willem, “The joy with which he teaches spreads positivity and the real life examples he has from his vast personal experience are extremely useful in understanding the general concept.”

Most recently Willem served as Team Leader of the ICAI Cash Transfer review, the ICAI Migration review, and the DEC Yemen crisis appeal review.
