Agulhas is looking for a senior professional to join our core team. The role includes supporting the delivery of reviews, evaluations and policy advice. Our services are provided to donor governments (particularly the UK), international organisations, foundations, NGOs and the private sector.

Roles and responsibilities

You will provide senior technical guidance and oversight over an exciting portfolio of development projects with a strong focus on policy-relevant reviews and analysis. You will oversee projects throughout their lifecycle, from concept to publication. You will be an important part of our work with the Independent Commission on Aid Impact, helping to design reviews and provide support and guidance to review teams. You will support the development of Agulhas’s pipeline of future work, including client engagement and management, helping further diversify our client base. You will contribute to building the capacity of the Agulhas Group and its staff.

Person specification

We are looking for a senior professional with 10-15 years of practice. You will have a wide range of experience of international development from work with development agencies and on the frontline of delivery across a range of countries. You will bring an understanding of the complex political environment surrounding development aid and the confidence to engage with at a senior level. You will have high-level analytical skills and value honest and robust analysis. You will be comfortable leading and working within teams, and also working on your own. You will have strong editorial skills and the ability to write rapidly and concisely, able to convey complex ideas in an accessible way.

Agulhas can pay in the upper quartile of the market to the right individual. Your starting salary will be in the range £60,000-70,000 plus benefits, including pension. All statutory benefits apply.

Your working pattern will be flexible. You will be based at our new offices (near Old Street in London), but can also work remotely; you will organize your own time to deliver. Much of our client contact takes place in London, with some UK travel. There will be some overseas travel, usually limited to short trips of one to two weeks.
